CreteCarBooking TERMS AND CONDITIONS
CreteCarBooking vehicles must remain strictly in Crete except with prior written permission.- Pets are allowed. A basic requirement is to have covers to protect the interior of the car. It is mandatory, out of respect for people with allergies, but also to maintain the hygiene of our cars. Damage caused by pets or animals inside or outside the car must be paid for. No insurance package includes coverage. Cleaning cost 120 euros.
- All passengers must use the seat belts of the vehicle.
- It should only be driven by the driver who rented the vehicle and not by anyone else.
- Renters are allowed to drive our vehicles on any road in Crete except the following where it is prohibited in all cases:
- On any beach or dirt road or gravel in Crete unless there are works being done. There are no restrictions on what road you will drive on but driving on a dirt road with gravel on the beach then voids any insurance coverage you have. (Balos, Preveli).
- No smoking. Fine for smoking in the car: €80 minimum.
- The credit card must belong to the driver and be non-electronic with embossed numbers.
- A pre-approved PIN is required to use the card.
- Credit card must be valid for at least 6 months after return date.
- All extra insurances (can also be selected upon delivery of the car from our company) beyond the following time:
- Beyond collection/return hours (21:00-00:00): €40 (only on request)
- Beyond collection/return hours (00:01-08:59): €80 (only on request).
- Our company reserves the right to prohibit the use of its vehicle in areas that are unfavorable for the safe use of its vehicles.
- The driver must follow the road traffic code and comply with it follow road signs and instructions from the police if necessary.
- When transporting the vehicle by ship (prohibited)
- If the driver is found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs or drugs that cause drowsiness
- For damages caused by driving on unpaved roads (Preveli, Balos)
- For any damages caused to mirrors, glass and tires, the renter is not covered.
- In the event of a violation of the Code of Civil Procedure (illegal traffic light crossing, STOP violation, etc.)
- For damage caused to the bottom of the car
- When transporting people or other objects for hire
- When towing other vehicles or trailers
- When the vehicle participates in speed races
- For loss of personal items inside the vehicle
- For accidents caused by a driver not stated in the rental contract
- For loss or destruction of a vehicle key. Fee 150 euros
- For lost or damaged GPS devices, child seats. Charge 100 euros.
- Engine damage due to negligence or refueling errors.
- Severe damage to the interior of the vehicle if there is no accident.
- If a vehicle is unavailable in an unforeseen situation CreteCarBooking reserves the right to replace the vehicle without prior notice and at no extra cost. If there is no replacement vehicle CreteCarBooking will refund the remaining rental amount, this does not mean that the renter is entitled to claim more money compensation than what has already been refunded back to their account.
- No compensation can be claimed.
- No refund is made to the renter if he does not use the CreteCarBooking vehicle, for example the last minute cancellation does not appear. In some cases, the renter’s insurance may cover the amount of the compensation. All refunds will be made in Euros. CreteCarBooking is not responsible for currency fluctuations.
- No changes are allowed to the interior or exterior of the vehicle. Any changes made are not covered by the company and are charged to the renter of the vehicle.
- If mechanical damage is detected, CreteCarBooking must be notified immediately so that the vehicle can be replaced immediately with another vehicle of the same type.
- Replacement of the vehicle is not carried out in case of fault of the renter, for example if:
- The vehicle ran out of fuel.
- The key was lost or locked in the vehicle.
- Battery drain from incorrect use such as negligent operation of the radio.
- After an accident with property damage.
- After an accident caused by willful negligence.
- From loss of oils and engine coolant.
- Damage repaired without the permission of CreteCarBooking will not be compensated.
- For example in case of illegal parking where the call has not been paid by the renter of the vehicle CreteCarBooking reserves the right to charge the renter’s card even if some time has passed since the rental of the vehicle.
- If we are unable to charge the card and cannot contact the renter then CreteCarBooking reserves the right to contact the relevant police authorities of Crete to analyze the renter’s Information in order to pay the call.
- In case of damage to the vehicle, the replacement or repair costs will be deducted from the warranty.
- In the event of an accident, the renter of the car is obliged to notify the Greek authorities at number (100), the insurance company (written at the insurance contract) and of course CreteCarBooking at +306947104846
- In the event that the credit card does not have the required amount to cover the damage to the vehicle, the renter is obliged to pay the difference in cash or via bank transfer.
- In case the renter refuses to pay the amount of the damage then court costs, legal taxes and expenses of the vehicle are charged to the renter of the vehicle.
- If due to the complexity of the vehicle damage to be examined e.g. (spare parts and work) CreteCarBooking reserves the right to claim compensation for the damage up to five days after the end of the vehicle rental.

DRIVER’S AGE AND DRIVER’S LICENSE : Minimum age limit is 24 years. The driver must hold a license for at least one year. The driver’s license must be Greek, European (for EU countries) or International (for non-EU countries). Young people aged 21-23 years have an additional charge of 10 euros per rental day. Maximum age 72 years.
METHOD OF PAYMENT : For all categories the renter must present a credit card accepted by CreteCarBooking to cover the amounts related to the guarantee and the payment of the rental costs (for non-prepaid bookings). We accept VISA, MASTERCARD, and cash. A pre-approved PIN is required to use the card. Credit card must be valid for at least 6 months after return date. Instead of card payment, bank transfer is also accepted. For instant payment, a 10% discount is applied to the total price.
FINES AND VIOLATIONS : All fines and administrative penalties resulting from the fault of the driver are fully borne by the lessee.
All our vehicles are insured against third parties for material damage excluding:
A. the driver and his passengers
B. the vehicle of the rental company.
LIABILITY DISCLAIMER 600€ (CDW): The renter’s liability for damage to the rental vehicle can be limited, provided that the Traffic Law is not violated, to the charge of 600€. Damage to the bottom of the car, wheels, interior of the car, windows, loss of key and car theft are not covered.
LIABILITY DISCLAIMER 300€ (SCDW): The renter can limit their liability even further (SCDW) to the charge of 300€ by paying an additional €10 per rental day. Basic roadside assistance.
FCDW NO AMOUNT COMMITMENT: Full vehicle coverage with an additional only 17 euros per rental day for up to 10 days. Over 10 days only 10 euros per rental day. Damage to the bottom of the car, to the wheels, to the interior of the car, to the windows, loss of a key is not covered. No fuel retention.
LIABILITY INSURANCE OR THIRD PARTY INSURANCE ( T.P.I. ): You are insured in the event of injury or property damage to a third party other than the renter and passengers.
THEFT COVERAGE (TP) : Be completely freed from financial responsibility in case of theft of the vehicle. Your personal belongings are not covered.
FIRE COVERAGE : Fire Insurance covers you for damages caused to the rental vehicle by fire, lightning strike or explosion.
The Insurance does NOT cover damages when:
- the driver is drunk. After an accident, he did not stop and take the necessary actions, such as notifying our company, Police(100), getting names and addresses of those involved in the accident, as well as not moving the car from the scene of the accident before the traffic police and a representative of the insurance company arrive at the scene of the accident.
- the driver used the car for unfair and illegal purposes, e.g. smuggling, theft, illegal transportation of objects and goods.The car was driven by someone whose name was not written on the rental agreement.
- the driver used the car for any kind of racing or competition.
- the driver drove the car on unauthorized roads such as beaches, unsuitable roads, mountains, etc.
- the driver was driving the car without respecting the Traffic Law e.g. violation of traffic lights, the STOP sign, speed limit, entering the opposite stream, etc.
SUPER COVER (SFCDW) : The renter can be fully exempted from his participation in case of theft or accident of the rented vehicle by paying the amount of 20€ per day. The coverage includes glass breakage, damage to the car’s tires as well as the ‘Extended Roadside Assistance’ service. No coverage (CDW,SCDW,FCDW,SUP) covers damage to the undercarriage and wheels. Not available for rentals by drivers aged 21-23.
ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE EXTENSION (ERA):The Roadside Assistance Extension extends the basic roadside assistance coverage by covering cases that do not involve mechanical breakdown of the car, such as:
1) Assistance in case the renter is locked out of the car,
2) Assistance in the event of immobilization of the vehicle due to lack of fuel or battery,
3 ) Assistance in case of need to replace/change a tire.
The service is available for an additional fee of 3€ per rental day. In the event that the driver needs to call roadside assistance for any of the above cases and has not selected “Extended Roadside Assistance” coverage, then there is an additional charge of 50€.
ACCIDENT FILE FEE (IAF) : The driver is charged 30€ in the event of an accident, regardless of fault . This amount is non-refundable.
FINE FILE FEE (FAF) : The driver is charged 15€, in case of a fine resulting from a violation of the Traffic Law. This amount is non-refundable.
ADDITIONAL DRIVER/S : 5€ daily fee for each additional driver.
ADDITIONAL CLEANING CHARGE: Applies if upon return the vehicle needs cleaning beyond the usual to prepare for the next rental. The biological cleaning fee is 100€. For cases where we need to clean a seat, a child’s seat and not the entire living room, the fee is 10€.
CHILD SEATS : Available only upon reservation and at a charge of 15€ per rental.
NAVIGATOR – GPS : Available only after reservation and for a fee of 5€ per day.
CHANGES OF CAR TYPE : The company reserves the right, depending on availability, to provide a different type of car than the one originally booked.
FULL/FULL FUEL POLICY: Commitment of 100 euros. If the vehicle returns to the same fuel level it is refunded to the credit/debit card or refunded in cash if a cash payment has been made.
